I didn’t start this because I had everything figured out. I started because I wanted an honest record of trying.
Who I am
I’m Derek. I make fishing and travel content, drive gig work to cover the bills, and build creative projects in the hours between. Derek Unscripted is the place where those parts of my life stop being separate.
I began documenting the transition because most creative stories skip the uncertain part—the nights when work is slow, the edit takes too long, the plan changes, or a small win is all there is.
To tell the truth about building a creative life before it becomes a success story. The channel follows the work as it happens: gig income, daily decisions, content experiments, travel, business ideas, setbacks, and progress that often looks smaller from the outside than it feels from within.
A meaningful life is built through attention, honest work, and the willingness to change direction when the old plan no longer fits. Progress does not need to be dramatic to matter. A story does not need a perfect ending to be worth telling.
The transition
